The Friends Academy Summer Programs offer a wide variety of camps for children in grades pre K through grade 11. Sports ranging from soccer, archery, basketball, and fencing, and more are offered. What’s more important is that they know children, and fit comfortably into the role of coach, mentor, and friend. *MACCOLL YMCA SUMMER DAY CAMP: Children that attend one of the many outstanding day camps at the MacColl YMCA, just off Route 146 in Lincoln, RI, will enjoy a spectacular spray park while being supervised and instructed by a well-trained staff. Besides the spray park, MacColl YMCA, which is accredited by the American Camp Association, features a large community swimming pool that includes two water slides and an instructional pool, where children ages 5 to 6 can take swim lessons. Staff members, many of whom are studying to become educators, are certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid and are required to complete 16-hours of safety training before the start of camp. All campers experience swimming, arts and crafts and a several outdoor activities, and there are specialty camps that focus on skills such as dancing and cheerleading.  Dates/Times: Camps run from June 17 through August 23 from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there is pre-camp child care available, starting at 6:30 a.m., as well as post-camp care, ending at 5:45 p.m.  Cost: The costs of the camps vary, and financial aid is available. Surf camps run at two locations for 8 weeks for ages 6 and up.  The 4-day surf camps run from June 24-August 15, Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 3 PM.  The Matunuck Point camp costs $275.00 for the week, and the Narragansett camp costs $375.00 for the week. June 10 through August 14, 2020.  Sail To Prevail creates opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to overcome adversity through therapeutic sailing. In our 37-year history, 22,000 disabled individuals have enjoyed traversing Narragansett Bay. This summer, more than 1,000 people with disabilities of all types will learn the skills of sailing in our fleet of adapted, 20-foot sailboats. Instructors encourage all to be active sailors by steering the boat and trimming sails. While experiencing the freedom of sailing, participants gain increased self-confidence, the camaraderie of teamwork, and improved leadership skills – all of which can transfer to conquering challenges in other areas of life.

*TECHIE CAMP - PROVIDENCE:  With generous support from the Nordson Corporation Foundation, TECH CORPS is offering two weeks of its Techie Camp program for FREE to middle school students in the Providence area this summer. The topics will be APP DEVELOPMENT (July 22-26) and PROGRAMMING (July 29-August 2), and the camps will run from 9am-4pm each day.  Techie Camp is a full-day, week-long program designed to engage elementary and middle school students in hands-on, interactive STEM-related activities. App Development - Using MIT App Inventor, students will create and explore Android apps that will work on their computers and their Android smartphones. Programming - Through fun and engaging experiences with Unity, an industry-standard 3D programming environment, students will learn the basic concepts of programming through the creation of video games and interactive stories. *WESTWOOD YMCA SUMMER DAY CAMP  - Children that attend one of the Westwood YMCA’s summer camps at our site in Coventry, RI will get to enjoy innovative programming in a beautiful setting. Our “Y without walls” consists of 80 acres of heavily wooded land preserved for camping and hiking and the expansive and pristine Quidnick Reservoir used for activities such as swimming, fishing and boating. The day camps are ideal for children age 5 and up. Free transportation is offered for children residing in Coventry, Exeter, West Greenwich, West Warwick and Sterling, CT.  Dates/Times: Camps run from June 17 through August 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there is complimentary pre-camp child care, starting at 6:30 a.m., and post-camp care, ending at 6 p.m. Camps are available for members and non-members. *ZOOCAMPS:  Roger Williams Park Zoo. 

If your child dreams of spending his or her days surrounded by animals, learning about the environment, making new friends and enjoying the outdoors, then send them to ZooCamp!  Fill their days with games, hands-on activities, crafts, animal encounters and tours of the Zoo.  It's a great opportunity for kids ages 4 - 13 to learn, explore and develop a deeper bond with the natural world during summer vacation. Campers say of their ZooCamp experience: “I loved making friends.  I was so happy getting to do animal encounters.”  “I loved seeing and learning about animals and creating my own zoo.”

Tadpole Academy summer camp (ages 4–5) is a great way to introduce little ones to ZooCamp. Tadpole Academy features half-day sessions, 8:30 – 11:30am and 12:30 – 3:30pm. Both 4 and 5-year-old campers may be registered for a morning and an afternoon session of the same week for a full day of Tadpole Academy. 

Summer Adventures summer camp (ages 6-10) is perfect for budding scientists, zoologists, explorers, artists or kids who love animals and the outdoors.  

Conservation Heroes summer camp (ages 11–13) helps educate campers to be the next leaders in conservation. 

One-week sessions begin Monday, June 22 and end Friday August 28.  After camp car e is available. Cost: Zoo pricing is more affordable than many other options. One week for Zoo  members is $270; for non-members $295. A $10 sibling discount applies to all ZooCamps. First registration will be at full price, and the $10 discount will be applied to each sibling thereafter (siblings must be registered within the same account).
